One day the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him was sitting near the hill of Safa. Abu Jahl passing by insulted him. Muhammad peace be upon him did not say anything to him. The slave girl, who was released by Abdullah ibn Jud'an radiallahu anhum, reported this to Hamza radiallahu anhu, the uncle of the Prophet peace be upon him.

Hamza was one of the most courageous men of that time. Hamza was furious when he heard the news and found Abu Jahl who was speaking to people near the Baitullah. When Hamzah reached Abu Jahl hit his head with a bow and said, "Even if I am in the religion of my nephew, you still insult him?". Abu Jahl was silent. Hamza became a Muslim. The disbelievers of Quraysh were disheveled by this because Hamzah was a very important role in society at that time.
